Project Update | Shine21 Charity

Great progress has been made on our conversion project for Shine21.

✅ All structural knock-throughs are now complete
✅ All fire doors have been installed
✅ First fix electrics are complete

With the major structural works behind us, we’re now moving into the next phase of the project. Over the coming weeks we’ll be fitting the bathrooms, installing the emergency lighting, plastering throughout, and completing the second fix as the building really starts to take shape.

We’re looking forward to sharing more progress as we move closer to handing over a modern, fully compliant facility that will serve the community for years to come.

A huge thank you to everyone involved so far. It’s been a real team effort, and we’re grateful to our trusted subcontractors and suppliers for helping us deliver this project to the highest standard.

New Project Start | Shine21 Children’s day center

We’re proud to be starting work on an exciting new project for Shine21 – a York-based registered charity dedicated to supporting children with Down Syndrome to reach their full potential through speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, life skills and much more.

Over the coming months, we’ll be transforming two existing residential bungalows into a purpose-built commercial facility, creating a space that will allow Shine21 to continue and expand the incredible work they do within the community.

The buildings have stood vacant for 10 years so we’re excited to bring them back to life! The renovation will include major structural alterations, new bathroom installations, fire door upgrades throughout to meet commercial fire regulations, and a full refurbishment to bring the building up to the standards required for its new use.

It’s always rewarding to be involved in projects that make a real difference, and we’re looking forward to sharing the progress along the way.

From cluttered garage to a seamless indoor-outdoor living space. 🔨✨

This space has undergone a complete transformation – internal studwork and insulated skin installed, fully plastered, and finished with matching 600x1200 porcelain tiles running throughout and continuing seamlessly onto a beautiful and spacious ivory stone patio.

We also created the opening and installed new bifold doors, along with a new window and full glazed entrance door - all in a sleek anthracite grey. Internally, sleek recessed spotlights were added, while modern wall-mounted downlights externally help tie the whole project together and create a contemporary finish day and night.

Another major transformation underway. 🔨

This renovation has seen some significant structural and layout changes to maximise both space and functionality.

✅ Installed Velux roof windows to bring in natural light
✅ Formed new openings for French doors, a new window and rear door
✅ Reconfigured the first floor layout, reducing the size of a bedroom to create a brand-new en-suite
✅ En-suite fitted with a shower, WC, basin, inline extractor and dual fuel towel rad
✅ Removed the rear wall and constructed a dwarf wall to create a vaulted ceiling and increase the overall room footprint
✅ Service hatch built for storage and macerator and fan access
✅ Plastered finish throughout

It’s great to see this project taking shape, with every alteration designed to improve how the home looks, feels and functions.

More updates to come as we push towards the finishing stages.
