The Djembe drum from West Africa is more than just an instrument — it's a symbol of community, healing, and storytelling.

Originating with the Mandé people of Mali, the djembe was traditionally played only by griots (oral historians), and its name means “gather together in peace.” 🕊️
Each beat carries history, emotion, and a call for unity. 🖤🌍

Fun fact: A skilled djembe drummer can produce three distinct sounds — bass, tone, and slap — all with bare hands.

It flows through northeastern Africa, and served as the backbone of the ancient Kush*te (Nubian) and Kemet (Egyptian) civilizations, which enabled agriculture, trade, and cultural development in these arid regions.

GIZA: KENYA'S REAL BLACK PANTHER
Most recently, a black panther, which is a rare melanistic leopard, was first photographed in Kenya in 2019 in an event believed to be the first confirmed case in Africa in over 100 years, after the sighting in Ethiopia. Its dark, shadowy coat and elusive nature have made it one of the most mysterious animals in the wild. It's dark colour also earned it the name 'Giza' which translates to 'Darkness' in Swahili.
