During the post-modern urban life era, our effort to renovate from the ground up and shape a micro-living space beyond its physical limits, gave us the opportunity to generate thoughtful results.
This compact residence of 27.5 sqm is a semi-basement located at a late 70’s apartment building in Voula, Greece. The key challenge was to maintain -through reduction and not deprivation- its own special features, but at the same time, transform this space into a relaxed, airy, and functional home for two, with a focus on energy efficiency and sustainable materials.
Openness, versatility, hidden storage spaces, an elevated sleeping area and material consistency were the tools to maximize spatial competence.
Creating a sense of connection and continuity was our objective in order to further expand the micro-dwelling experience. The glass walls of the bathroom craft its smooth integration with the living area, and redefine our personal space through a relaxed and open setting.
As distances shrink, the need to be creative is intensified.
Through subtraction, a simpler, more sustainable lifestyle with reduced environmental impact can emerge, evolving the way we live.
