On a first visit to the site while wandering , the desire of some figures to swim motivates us to improve the experience. The presence of linear stone figures on the ground , the old "sfagia" , make their appearance , as they are surrounded by the sea and become one .

The architectural thoughts this time are placed on the beach of Koum Kapi in Chania. Our wandering led us to a rocky point where we encounter ruins from the old slaughterhouses. With a simple architectural gesture, access to the sea due could be improved on this side of Koum Kapi, offering a quieter and more private experience for the neighborhood's bathers.

This specific project is currently underway and concerns the restoration of an old-style building and its smooth and effortless integration into the quiet settlement of Sougia as a tourist accommodation.
Sougia is a seaside settlement located south of the prefecture of Chania, Crete. It is crossed by the European path E4 and is connected by ferry to other tourist destinations such as Paleochora and Sfakia.

The beach of the settlement is 1.5 kilometers long and is lined with tamarisk trees. Pebbles and tamarisk trees are found throughout its area.

A metal staircase of ephemeral construction is added behind the stone facade creating the public balcony - Urban spot .The structure is framed with local planting , which is regenerated in the space . The immediacy of the browser's immediacy with the interior of the new urban spot invites him to satisfy his primary desire for a break from the urban rhythm.

The thought of a public balcony in a "dead building" can reimagine it. It can give new "glimpses" into the city of Patras and a new relationship with the natural landscape. In an urban area ensuring contact , man-nature is the basis of this architectural thinking .
The stone shell activates and extends the public space , offering a new "urban observation spot ".

In an urban ramble , abandoned buildings can act as blank spots on the map , creating “dead spaces” that interrupt the flow of the city , disconnecting the built environment and affecting both the perception and use of public space .
In the street of Othonos and Amalias in the city of Patras, one can see such an example , the accessibility of which motivates entering . The empty worn shell leads the passer-by to imagine the original form and function of the building . The strong openings in the facade evoke the desire to come up and look down on the city from above . What if there was a public window , a public balcony ?

Sketching the plot in a shot from the view above , we notice the surrounding area , which is rich in aromatic plants , such as oregano etc. and recognize the integration of the design building. At the same time , we identify the association of the artificial water element with the natural one , and their optical interaction .

The flow behind the building volumes, which follows the direction of the topographical lines, is highlighted through the designed lighting, as well as the flow in front of the volumes and the access of each apartment to the common swimming pool.
