Company Description MF Arhitekti d.o.o., operating under the brand DRIA Architects, is a Croatian architecture studio based in Rijeka, specializing in sustainable design, heritage restoration, and innovative modular construction. The studio works across residential, public, and institutional projects, including bespoke homes, multi-unit housing, schools, cultural centers, and administrative facilities. DRIA Architects is licensed for cultural heritage projects in Croatia and has contributed to major regional restorations such as Kaštel Kršan, the ship “Galeb,” and Pretorio Palace in Cres. Its modular FRAME and CLT (Cross-Laminated Timber) systems emphasize carbon-negative materials, energy efficiency, and circular construction principles. The practice aligns closely with the EU Green Deal and EU taxonomy, focusing on architecture that is environmentally responsible and rooted in local context and culture.
Role Description The Architect will work on full-cycle project delivery, from concept development and schematic design to detailed technical documentation and construction oversight. This full-time, on-site role in Rijeka involves collaborating with colleagues on sustainable residential, public, and heritage restoration projects, including modular structures using FRAME and CLT technologies. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing architectural designs, coordinating with engineers and consultants, preparing drawings and specifications, and ensuring compliance with Croatian regulations and heritage protection standards. The Architect will participate in client meetings, site visits, and technical reviews, helping to translate project goals into buildable solutions. The role also includes contributing to innovation in sustainable and modular design, supporting internal project management processes, and maintaining high-quality design and documentation standards.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Architecture and Architectural Design, with experience in sustainable construction and building detailing.
Skills in Project Management, including planning, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and monitoring project timelines and deliverables.
Basic understanding of Software Development and Integration as they relate to design tools, BIM workflows, and digital collaboration platforms.
Proficiency in relevant architectural software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit or similar BIM tools, 3D modeling software).
Degree in Architecture and eligibility or progress toward professional licensure in Croatia.
Knowledge of local building codes, permitting processes, and heritage protection regulations is highly beneficial.
Experience or strong interest in timber construction, modular systems, and low-carbon design strategies.
Ability to work on-site in Rijeka, communicate clearly with clients and partners, and collaborate effectively in a studio environment.
