3LHD is an architectural practice focused on integrating various disciplines – architecture, urban planning, design and art. The Studio was founded in Zagreb in 1994 by four partners: Saša Begović, Marko Dabrović, Tatjana Grozdanić Begović and Silvije Novak. In 2016 they appointed a new partner, Paula Kukuljica.
3LHD architects in their work constantly explore new possibilities of interaction between architecture, society and individuals as well as their mutual integration. Through the contemporary architectural approach the team of architects deals with all the projects in cooperation with many experts from various disciplines. Villa Argentina is sitting right on the edge of Dubrovnik’s steep coastline.

The project brings together historic villas, a new hotel building, and terraced gardens descending toward the waterfront. By blending the new architecture into the natural terrain and garden walls, we connected the site’s different levels through a series of landscaped plateaus and underground walkways.

From above, the entire project reads as a continuous Mediterranean landscape rather than a single structure, offering clear views of Lokrum and the Adriatic Sea.

A new perspective on the Adriatic. 🌅

The glazing installation on the Hotel Marjan tower in Split is now complete.

Large sliding glass walls are one of the defining features of the reconstruction, allowing rooms and suites to open towards the sea and creating a closer connection between indoor and outdoor spaces.

An important step in bringing new life to one of Split’s architectural landmarks.

The reconstruction of Villa Argentina reconnects its historic villas, hotel spaces, and Mediterranean gardens through a sequence of terraces, paths, and vertical connections across the steep site.

At the centre of the complex, a new landscaped terrace brings Villa Orsula, the restaurant and the outdoor pool onto one level. It becomes both a connection and a place to pause — between architecture and garden, with views towards Dubrovnik, Lokrum and the open sea.

Our proposal began with a simple idea: Maksimir should not stop at Maksimirska Street.

The park's landscape logic extends southwards, reconnecting the stadium, Svetice, and the wider sports district through a single continuous public ground. Within that expanded landscape, the stadium is conceived not as a closed object, but as a light civic pavilion — open at ground level, shaded by a continuous roof and surrounded by a permeable colonnade.

The architecture and idea are inseparable: the park grows, and the stadium becomes part of it.

A contemporary football venue rooted in the character of Maksimir and Zagreb.

2 hours of football. 166 hours of community.

A stadium reaches its peak on match day. But for the rest of the week, it can become something else entirely.

Our Maksimir Stadium proposal was designed so that its public concourse, gardens, cafés, kiosks and surrounding landscape remain part of everyday city life — open to neighbours, athletes, families and visitors beyond the match itself.

Football creates the intensity.
The city creates the everyday life.

One Bowl. One Crowd.

The heart of our Maksimir Stadium proposal is a continuous stadium bowl designed to bring the fans together.

Rather than treating four stands as separate elements, the geometry creates one connected spectator space — with a unified North Stand conceived as an uninterrupted wall of support.

Compact sightlines, proximity to the pitch and a roof designed to keep the energy where it belongs: inside the stadium.
A stadium shaped around the experience of football.

Our proposal for the new Maksimir Stadium.

The project explores the potential of a contemporary sports venue to become an active, welcoming public space for Zagreb — a place that supports major sporting events while also contributing to the everyday life of the city.

Our proposal was not selected as the winning entry, but we remain proud of the vision it puts forward for the future of Maksimir and are pleased to share it with you.

Congratulations to the winning team, and thank you to everyone involved in the competition.

A special thank you to our collaborators for their expertise, commitment and contribution throughout the process:

Yesterday one of Dubrovnik’s most recognisable hotels reopened following a multi-year reconstruction and interior redesign project for Adriatic Luxury Hotels .

Built in 1920 as a private residence and later transformed into a luxury hotel, Villa Argentina now brings together restored historic villas, new hotel spaces, Mediterranean gardens and uninterrupted views towards Dubrovnik’s Old Town and Lokrum.

Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this project.

At the Kastav site, structural concrete works are in full swing, with the slabs and walls now taking shape.

Construction joints, 200 cm wide, serve as expansion gaps to control shrinkage, creep and thermal effects. The layout of the future school is already becoming visible: the main corridor and classrooms are positioned on one side, while annexes containing sanitary facilities and atria are located on the other.
