Old City เมืองเก่าที่เป็นรากฐานของการสร้างเมืองและขนบความคิดของผู้คน และ New World ของโลกที่ยังคงวิวัฒน์ไปข้างหน้าทุกวัน ทั้งสองคำนี้จึงเป็นตัวแทนของการบอกเล่าความเป็นเชียงใหม่ในปัจจุบัน และเป็นหัวข้อการบรรยายที่หยิบเอาเสน่ห์ของเมืองเชียงใหม่ซึ่งมีความสัมพันธ์แนบแน่นระหว่างรากเหง้าของตนเองกับความร่วมสมัยที่เข้ามาไม่มีหยุดหย่อน บุคลิกของเชียงใหม่จึงเห็นในภาพลักษณ์ของความผูกพันแน่นแฟ้นผ่านสายสัมพันธ์แห่งอัตลักษณ์ และเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในชีวิตประจำวันอย่างแนบแน่น

Only 7 days left until the International Lectures, part of Architect Lanna 2025. Join us on Saturday, 13 December 2025, from 12:00–17:00, at the Auditorium, Faculty of Architecture, Chiang Mai University, for an inspiring session under the theme ‘Old City, New World.’ Speakers include Japanese architect Jo Nagasaka (founder of Schemata Architects), Ekaphap Duangkaew (founder of EKAR Architects), and Asrin Sanguanwongwan and Petra Tikulin (founders of STA).
The notions of the ‘Old City’ and the ‘New World’ serve as interpretive frameworks for understanding contemporary Chiang Mai. The former encapsulates the city’s foundational spatial structures and its inherited modes of thought, while the latter represents the continuous processes of transformation that accompany global modernity. Together, they illustrate the city’s unique condition—one in which enduring cultural rootedness intersects with contemporary dynamism. This interrelationship shapes Chiang Mai’s urban identity and informs the texture of everyday life.
