Set between rolling hills and a curved sandy bay on Lombok’s southwest coast, this project is shaped by the quiet rhythm of its surroundings.

A collection of surf villas that draws from the origins of surf culture. Polynesian heritage, the refined mid-century beach homes of California, reinterpreted through a Lombok lens. Local timber, stone, lime finishes and woven natural materials ground the architecture in its place.

Simple, restrained, and built with a deep understanding of this climate and place. Mimpi Areguling.

Lumi Beach Club

A hospitality renovation translating Indonesian textile traditions into a contemporary interior language.

Working within the original architecture by Andra Matin, the design reinterprets one of Indonesia’s most enduring cultural expressions — textiles — as the foundation for the space.

Research into batik and ikat from across the archipelago informed a series of contemporary motifs, developed into custom fabrics, rugs, ceramics and tiles.

We work closely with makers and craftspeople on each project, developing bespoke pieces that are rooted in place and material. At Lumi, this process is embedded throughout — from furniture and finishes to the smallest details of the interior.

The beach club forms the first phase of a wider renovation of the Lumi Hotel on Gili Trawangan.

Just set back from Serangan Beach, cradled between pristine coastline and the rolling hills behind, sits Boni Beach Resort.

Completed in 2022, we combined materials and techniques found in traditional Sasak villages with contemporary, clean lined architecture. Natural Lombok stone walls, grass roofs and timber cladding, sit alongside local cream marble floors.

All interiors were handmade in Indonesia, from the teakwood furniture, to the handwoven rugs and the Lombok clay tiles and pottery. From the moment you walk in to Boni Beach, every detail is a showcase of Indonesian craftsmanship, from Lombok and beyond.

A chance for our team to step outside the studio, wander through new streets, and learn from a city layered with culture, craft, density, and design.

From temples to quiet residential pockets, from contemporary galleries to public areas, Bangkok gave us a mix of inspiration we rarely get to experience in one place. We observed materials, spaces, planning, how people move, how buildings breathe and just as importantly, we spent time together as a team, talking, laughing, sharing meals, and seeing design from new angles.

This trip wasn’t just a break. It was a reminder of why we build, why we study, and why curiosity matters in architecture. More reflections coming over the next posts moments, spaces, and the stories we brought to our studio with us.

A first look at our new residential project in Babakan, Bali a single-level, three-bedroom home arranged as two main living blocks along an east–west axis, connected by an open, light-filled living pavilion.

Designed to sit lightly on the land, the building floats above the ground, with every space spilling directly into the surrounding landscape.

A long linear pool frames the main view, while deep roof overhangs and a breathable layout keep the home cool and protected through passive-architecture principles. Recycled teakwood cladding softens the structure and will weather beautifully over time, allowing the house to settle naturally into its tropical setting.

Crafted with a high level of detailing and finishing, the home balances precision with warmth throughout. Another successful collaboration with

Our first in-house residential development in Berawa, Suku Houses were crafted from the ground up, from architecture that responds to the site and neighborhood, to interiors handmade with care.

Nearly every element was made locally: recycled teakwood furniture, banana fiber lanterns from Ubud, hand-dyed rugs and fabrics from Jogja and Bali, handmade limestone, and ikat textiles sourced directly from makers in Sumba.

A sophisticated family home that offers spaces for privacy as well as coming together. Prioritizing modern comfort, we used a palette of robust, natural materials that don’t just look good - they’re as hard wearing as they are gentle on a young family.

Breathable and non-toxic materials such as the lime mortar walls used inside and out, keep everyone as healthy indoors as they are running around in the big back garden.
