Upon entry, a reflecting pool in the carport welcomes visitors with a calm contrast to the busy street beyond. The same feeling is brought until a central courtyard is reached at the core of the home. Visually connecting all levels, anchored by a grand Fossil Frangipani tree and the soft sound of trickling water from the reflecting pool. Clad in curtain walls, it brings in natural light and maintains a clean, continuous massing despite the compact footprint.

The deck itself gently bridges toward the neighboring home, allowing for visual connection and familial closeness without encroaching on each other’s boundaries. Atop the residence, the third level is articulated as a bold travertine-clad volume—a heavy, sculptural box that appears to levitate. From the street, a small, punctured aluminium lattice volume on the corner subtly reveals the presence of a hidden aviary, reflecting the homeowner’s appreciation for nature and tranquility.

A generous outdoor deck blurs the boundary between inside and out, anchored by a small aluminium lattice gazebo that serves as a covered, contemplative seating area during rainfall. A lattice ceiling extends from the indoor living room out to this gazebo, forming a box-like massing protruding from the inside to outside, as to sustain the travertine mass above—contributing to the illusion of levitation. This second layer floats above the black base and becomes a visual extension of the social life inside—connected via vast operable sliding windows that merge indoor and outdoor realms. Not only expressive in form, but also performative in function. The lush planters and setbacks act as acoustic and visual buffers from the adjacent street and neighboring school, providing a layer of privacy and serenity within a dense urban context.

While grounded in the functional needs of Gen X living, the design is far from conventional. The client’s taste leans toward modern and contemporary aesthetics, with a refined sense of luxury—expressed not through excess, but through spatial proportions, rich natural materials like marble and travertine, and a curated interior palette of loose furnishings.

The ground floor is articulated with solid black walls, softened by lush greenery from planters above. The landscape is rooted in low-maintenance yellow-blooming plantings like Arachis pintoi, Lantana, and accentuated by striking Tabebuia trees. This strong base acts as a unifying element between the two houses—anchoring them with continuity while allowing their contrasting characters to stand independently above. The second level steps back, creating depth and shadow, and features a continuous line of planters that doubles as a canopy over the carport below.

The name "XYZ House" speaks to its residents—three generations spanning Gen X, Gen Y, and Gen Z—each with distinct needs and lifestyles, unified under one roof. At its core, the home is designed for a Gen X patriarch, a man who values gatherings—be it family reunions, religious meetings, or business discussions.This social dynamic directly informed the architectural program, resulting in a spacious carport that not only accommodates multiple vehicles but also extends seamlessly into the interior living areas, reinforcing the continuity between arrival, gathering, and daily rituals. Spatial generosity continues throughout the house, with ample bedrooms to welcome extended family.

Designed for the first generation, the project negotiates between an existing structure, a new extension, and the adjacent second-generation home with a contrasting classic style. A reimagined shared entry gate becomes a unifying element, bridging differing architectural identities and establishing a cohesive frontage.

The darker base anchors the structure, while the lighter upper volume feels almost suspended above. A careful balance of solidity and openness defines the overall presence. LVM is a small, exclusive housing cluster located in Madiun Golf Lippo Karawaci. The front exterior emphasizes balanced geometrical proportions. Then it’s enhanced by a minimalist yet refined palette. The panoramic glass window on the upper floor is wrapped in a bold, rectangular, wide fl**ge steel frame—creating depth while emphasizing transparency. A light-weight balcony with minimalist metal railings adds depth and shadow, reinforcing the house’s layered geometry. Solid mass below balances expansive glazing, allowing light to shape the interior throughout the day. Its modern architecture is expressed through proportion, precision, and restraint.
