'Cross-Functional Work’ (COLLABORATION / Gotong Royong = Sinergi)

• Summary: Cross-functional work is work that teams in different departments, and companies complete together within one project/bigger corporate goal.
Cross-functional work is necessary for businesses to work efficiently and achieve their most important projects. But without the right setup, ineffective cross-functional work can create:
- duplicative work or - even miscommunications. ========= Imagine your team just completed a successful year, many values for the BKG — --- think about all the different teams in several companies (SINET-BARAKUMALA-ADITAMA).

What is cross-functional work? Cross-functional work is the work that happens between different teams, departments, or companies within the corporate, BKG. All companies organize teams by the type of work they do—these are known as functional teams. Think: subcontractors, equipment vendors, operation crews, finance & accounting, and engineering. But the most important work isn’t done by just one team. Work happens across different teams, departments, and even companies. The work you do across different companies is known as cross-functional work.

No more silos: Optimizing your organizational structures for stronger cross-team collaboration. We all need to learn how to structure our organizations to prevent silos, move faster, be remarkably agile ( LINCAH ), and stay aligned in the face of change. This could mean "a tiger team" of designated liaisons from different companies, or three/four/five larger teams working together for a more time-bound project. Cross-functional work is the day-to-day activities that cross-functional teams do to accomplish goals.

Common challenges of working cross-functionally:
While working cross-functionally provides benefits, it can be challenging to implement. Here are two issues you may encounter if you’re trying to work cross-functionally, and solutions to resolve them:
i/ Poor communication Working cross-functionally means that your team has to communicate with other teams consistently. Because teams tend to develop their own language and operate in unique ways, it can be challenging to connect and communicate with people outside of your own team. How to fix it: Early on in the planning process, establish a common language and goals so everyone is on the same page. Build a communication plan so everyone knows how information is shared and save it somewhere accessible to all so they can always find it.
ii/ No central system of record Teams work out of many different documents, files, and messaging platforms. If your team has no central system of record where they store final decisions and contextual information, they might waste time chasing down information. Simple miscommunication, mismatched document versions, and unnecessary status updates are all problems you'll see if there’s no one central location for a cross-functional team to find information. How to fix it: Establish a centralized hub where all information relating to a specific project lives. Using a work management platform BKG-MS, we can build a system of record that’s accessible to everyone on your team. A centralized source of truth helps keep teams organized, establishes a place for communication about specific work areas, and provides documentation for the key decisions made.

Keep up the good work. ... # Man Jadda Wajada .

Mc Kinsey: Leaders, born or made ....?

30/03/2022

Are perfect leaders born, rather than made? That’s what some research tells us. It can be disheartening to learn that only 10 percent of people have the natural talent to become great managers. But the more challenged 90 percent can cultivate many leadership competencies, mindsets, and skills if they invest in improving their capabilities. Lifelong learning and growth are prerequisites to survive in any executive job, and given today’s flatter hierarchies and increasing turnover, more professionals are likely to take on leadership roles at some point in their careers.
Listen to your “inner voice”
Often inundated with the advice and demands of others, leaders may let their personal goals and motivations languish. But your own instincts may be the best guide during times of conflict or crisis. In this interview, Jennifer Pharr Davis, founder and owner of the Blue Ridge Hiking Company, tells McKinsey the compelling story of how she overcame self-doubt, physical setbacks, and disparagement from others to set a record for the fastest time to hike the Appalachian Trail. “I faced a lot of criticism, so it was important to be in touch with what I felt and what my motivations were,” Davis says. “Everyone has that inner voice and inner drive, but it often gets muscled out. People need to carve out time to listen to that inner voice because it’s an important resource.” On the trail, Davis fashioned a unique program for herself to get through each day, including setting small goals, learning from failures, and playing to her strengths. Consider leadership a developmental journey, not a static role, and create practices for yourself to stay fresh and vital along the way.
