𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞 | 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 2 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬

Coffey is continuing work on the 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐞𝐥 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞, delivering upgrades to road, pedestrian, cycling and utility infrastructure along the route.

The scheme is designed to improve connectivity between Delgany and Blacklion, with works including new and upgraded pedestrian and cycling facilities, drainage and utility infrastructure, road improvements, public lighting and associated accommodation works.

𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 2 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬
Work on Section 2 has continued to move forward, with recent activity focused on road construction, drainage, kerbing and pedestrian infrastructure.

Since our previous update, works have included:

✔️ Earthworks completed across an area of 770m²
✔️ 2,300m² of base and binder course surfacing completed
✔️ 430m of slipform kerbing installed, bringing the total to 650m
✔️ 150m of precast driveway and bus kerbs installed
✔️ 1,020m² of footpaths installed
✔️ A further 950m² of cycle track installed
✔️ Mainline deep drainage works completed

This latest progress builds on the utility and accommodation works previously completed in Section 2, as the road, footpath and associated infrastructure continues to take shape along the route.

The improvements being delivered will provide safer and more accessible infrastructure for pedestrians, cyclists and road users, while improving connectivity between Delgany and Blacklion.

For years, Church Street has been a key part of daily life in Roscommon, a place where people shop, meet, work and pass through every day.

Today, that familiar street has been reimagined as a safer, more accessible and more welcoming public space, creating a better experience for residents, businesses and visitors alike.

The completed transformation, recently featured in the Roscommon People, is another example of how investment in public infrastructure can support the long-term regeneration of our town centres. Small changes to the built environment can have a significant impact on how people move through, connect with and experience a place.

Working alongside Roscommon County Council, Coffey delivered this project with a shared focus on creating lasting value for the community and supporting a vibrant future for Roscommon.

Projects like Church Street bring our purpose, Enhance Communities through Engineering Excellence, to life. Not just through the infrastructure itself, but through the positive difference it makes to everyday life.

As Coffey grows, creating opportunities for our people to build relationships across the business matters.

That’s why the first outing of the Coffey Golf Society at ATHENRY GOLF CLUB last Friday was about more than getting a round of golf in.

It brought colleagues from different parts of Coffey together away from projects, sites and offices, giving people the chance to get to know one another and strengthen relationships across the business.

And those relationships have value well beyond the day itself.

The better connected we are internally, the easier it is to share knowledge, bring different expertise together and collaborate across teams. Ultimately, that helps us bring more of Coffey’s collective capability to the challenges our clients ask us to solve.

For us, that’s Do It Together in practice: stronger connections between our people, better collaboration across our business and better outcomes for our clients.

𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐟𝐢𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐒𝐓𝐖 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐔𝐩𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞

Significant progress continues at Mayfield STW for Severn Trent Water, with several key milestones achieved across the site in recent weeks. The project includes upgrades to increase treatment performance and flow capacity, including a new biofilter recirculation pumping station, EICA improvements and a new MCC installation.

• Installation of the new recirculation pumping station is now complete.
• Sitewide ducting installation has been completed.
• The new MCC has been delivered and first-fix installation works are complete.
• The temporary SAF unit has been successfully relocated to facilitate construction of the new storm tank.
• The storm tank base has been installed and is ready to receive the tank in early September.
• Electrical installation works continue across the site.

Over the coming weeks, the team will focus on final installations and commissioning activities, with the new treatment assets expected to be fully operational by the end of the month.

The scope of the project has grown significantly since construction commenced. In addition to the original upgrade works, Coffey has been engaged to deliver the relocation of the temporary SAF unit, installation of a new storm tank, provision of a washwater booster system and, most recently, a standby generator installation.

The SAF relocation and storm tank elements are expected to be completed by the end of the month, while the washwater booster system and backup generator works will continue into next year, with overall project completion now anticipated in early 2027.

A great example of collaborative delivery as the team continues to enhance wastewater infrastructure and operational resilience for Severn Trent Water.

𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫.

On 11-12 September, St. Mary's GAA Club Athenry will bring the local community together for its Family Fun Day and 24-Hour Walkathon, while also marking the official opening of its new Astro Pitch and Wall Ball facility.

We’re delighted to support this year’s event as a main sponsor, with Coffey contributing €1,000 towards the fundraiser to help support the club and the continued development of facilities for the wider community.

With strong roots in Athenry and many connections to St Mary’s across our workforce, this support means a great deal to our people.

St Mary’s has grown to become much more than a sports club. Through GAA for All, its work with local schools and community groups, and the development of accessible recreational facilities, the club is creating opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to participate, connect and stay active.

It’s a great example of values we share at Coffey: Do the Right Thing, Do it Better and Do it Together. Supporting communities, creating opportunities and working together can make a lasting difference.

𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐞𝐝𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐟𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲

Last week, Paul Baxter and Anne Carroll from Severn Trent joined us in Ireland for a two-day visit focused on sharing knowledge, exchanging ideas and seeing projects in delivery first-hand.

The visit included our Athenry office, the Coftec assembly facility and three water infrastructure project sites delivered for another client: Enfield WTP, Castletroy WwTP and Lough Talt.

Visiting projects in person gives a practical view of how engineering solutions perform in real operating environments. It also creates an opportunity for open discussion about the challenges facing the water industry and how we can respond to them.

Paul and Anne met with members of the Coffey and Coftec teams, toured our modular assembly facility and discussed approaches to delivering water infrastructure more efficiently, while maintaining quality, performance and value.

A key part of the discussion was the role of standardisation, reduced reliance on site civils and value-driven design. Designing with repeatability and practical delivery in mind can help simplify construction and improve efficiency without compromising performance.

Across the two days, both teams shared experience, asked questions and discussed lessons from projects at different stages of delivery. This approach reflects our focus on learning, sharing knowledge and working together to improve how infrastructure is delivered.

Thank you to Paul and Anne for spending the time with our teams and visiting our project sites. We value our collaboration with Severn Trent and the opportunity to keep sharing ideas around the delivery of critical water infrastructure.

Following the validation of our near-term science-based emissions reduction target by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), our targets are now publicly available.

Publishing our targets is an important step in turning commitment into action. It provides a clear roadmap for reducing emissions across our operations and supply chain, while creating measurable accountability for our progress.

As an infrastructure business, we recognise the role we play in supporting the transition to a lower-carbon future. Science-based targets give us a framework to drive meaningful emissions reductions and help meet the evolving sustainability expectations of our customers, partners and stakeholders.
