World Environment Day

In the spirit of World Environment Day we’d like to share some of the ways we are taking action to help create a better planet for us all! 🌷

As part of the DOVISTA group of companies, we at Rationel are committed to achieving carbon neutrality - and while our journey is ongoing the progress that we’ve made is already making a difference! 🌱

Since 2021, the DOVISTA Group has reduced internal emissions by more than 60% per unit produced - a significant achievement and one that we’re incredibly proud of!

To better understand and manage our environmental impact, we have categorised our emissions into three key areas:

Scope 1 - direct emissions from sources owned by DOVISTA
Scope 2 - indirect emissions resulting from purchased energy
Scope 3 - all additional indirect emissions

By 2030, we aim to…

Reduce emissions in scopes 1 & 2 by 42%
Reduce emissions in scope 3 by 25%

And we’re not stopping there!

By 2050, DOVISTA aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across all three scopes by an impressive 90%! ✨

Together, we’re working towards a more sustainable future - one step at a time! 🙌

Last week we had the pleasure of installing these beautiful windows in the not-so-sunny Dungannon Beach, County Wexford!

Despite the typical Irish weather, the transformation of this beach-side home was well worth it! 🏖️

These new windows will not only flood the rooms with natural light, but showcase the beautiful sea views while keeping the homeowners sheltered from the elements.

Triple Glazing

Did you know that triple glazing has the potential to…

✨ Significantly reduce your energy bill
✨ Prevent condensation
✨ Improve heat-retention
✨ Reduce outdoor noise transmission

This is because triple glazed windows feature an extra (a third) pane of glass, enhancing the thermal performance of the window.

These windows were first used in Sweden to improve the thermal efficiency of homes, where harsh, cold weather made heating a home more difficult and expensive, especially when traditional windows were “leaking” heat.

Nowadays, triple glazing is used in windows across the world, including in Canada, Denmark, and Ireland - where cold and wet weather require high-performance windows to match.

Another interesting feature of triple glazed windows is that they feature two air gaps between the window panes that can be filled with a gas like argon, krypton, or xenon - which helps your windows to prevent heat escaping during winter, and entering in summer.

Condensation on windows is a common sight in Irish homes, especially during colder months - but what does it actually mean? 🤔

Unlike what most people think, condensation is not caused by your windows “not working properly”.

Instead, condensation is formed when warm, moist air meets a cold window pane, creating excess moisture. Everyday activities like cooking, showering, and drying clothes indoors increase the levels of humidity in your home.

There are a number of things that you can do to reduce the levels of humidity in your home, ultimately reducing condensation:

- Keep air circulation going
- Clean outlets and trickle vents
- Maintain a comfortable temperature
