Before we insulate an attic, we check the full picture.
On this job, we spotted a few things that needed sorting first:
The ballcock was sitting too high and needed to be brought down properly.
The tank had swollen because the mains pipe wasn’t supported correctly, allowing the ballcock to finish too high and thus overfill it each time beyond the regular level.
The tank was dirty inside and needed a good clean.
The bathroom fan duct was venting into the tank area instead of outside, so that needed to be redirected through a roof vent.
We also recommended fitting a proper tank cover to help protect everything going
forward.
