Tip for the Day

Install lights in all outside entrances. You could consider sensor lighting but make sure it’s not the type that switches on every time someone walks by your house. It can be annoying and have no impact if it is always switching on and off.

Eircom have issued a letter to its customers to say as of 30th June 2015 it will no longer be providing a "Fixed SMS" service. This means that it will no longer be possible to send or receive SMS text messages via eircom landlines after this date.

This means that if you have an alarm that currently sends you a text alert when it goes off, you will no longer have this service.

You will need to contact your alarm provider regarding what other options you may have. Always make sure your alarm provider has a valid PSA licence.

Please note this change does NOT affect senior personal alarm units

Tip for the Day

It is important to be vigilant if going on holidays, especially if your home is unoccupied. Get a neighbour or friend to regularly check on your property, switching lights on and off. It’s a good idea to leave a car parked in the driveway. Summertime is one of the most common times for burglaries with windows left open on those balmy summer days (not that we get too many of those). Don’t be despondent. Be aware! It’s also a good idea to cancel all deliveries, such as newspapers and get a neighbour to pick up your post.
