And that’s it!!

Im hanging up my boots, not just for Christmas this year but for good.

After 20 years of running this business alongside my brother Patrick, I have decided its time for a change and I have “retired” from the company. ( I now work for my wife!!)

This company was started in 1916 by our grandfather Patrick, the “P” in P Mc Govern and Son and I have worked in it since I was old enough to hold a tape measure. I worked for my father after I left school up until 20 years ago when, on his retirement, myself and Patrick took over. I am very proud to have been a part of this family businesses history.

I have always been very lucky to have been surrounded by a great crew of lads and subcontractors. The names and faces change over the years but the friendships remain and I hope they can always call me a friend too.

Similarly, there have been so many wonderful clients over the years and I am very grateful to them.

The business will continue as normal with Patrick at the helm so I know you are all in good hands!

As for me, I have no immediate plans other than to take a little time off, catch up on the sleep and enjoy a bit of free time for a change!!!

Thank you for all the good wishes this past few weeks, the lunches, breakfasts, cards and gifts, its been overwhelming.

Most of all thank you to Dad who trusted me with this business and my brother Patrick who has been the best business partner anyone could have asked for. I wish him every success in the world as he continues this business into the future.

Over and out for me
All the best
Joe

We had a great night last night celebrating Gerry Goldrick who has worked for us for 50 years so far and still going strong, hopefully we will have him for another while!!! A big thank you to everyone who came, we really appreciate it! It was a brilliant turn out for a man who deserves it.
A few sore heads around today 🤕
We got some pictures at the beginning of the night and a few in the early hours of the morning but we kind of forgot about it in between so a lot of people not featured 🙄
A huge thank you also to The Keepers Arms for keeping us all fed, food was fantastic as usual 😁

New lad started last week, Bob's his name. Seems a nice enough fella 😂😂😂

It is with such sadness that we have downed tools for the day as a mark of respect to our friend and colleague, Johnny Edwards, who passed away on Wednesday.
Our deepest condolences to Alison, Sinéad, Colin and all the Edwards family. We are thinking of you all.
Johnny will never be forgotten and will always be missed here at P Mc Govern and Son
