I had a client who called me with a no power issue in sockets in a commercial property. Power is critical in the premises due to the nature of work. When I visited the property, I discovered this and asked who did this. It turned out the staff member thought she would be able to sort it herself and moved fuses around. She put a fuse in like this without the porcelain holder. The RCD had tripped for this board and had thankfully knock the power to it. If it had been live the staff member would have been seriously hurt.

NEVER ATTEMPT TO REPAIR ANYTHING ELECTRICAL WITHOUT SEEKING PROFESSIONAL HELP.

I had to raise a potential hazard notice here recommending the fuse boards in the building be upgraded and a periodic inspection report be carried out on the full installation. Never take chances with electricity.

You will also notice coins have been used as spacers over the years inside the fuse holders. This is done due to gauge rings being removed meaning that any rated fuse can be installed running the risk of fire.
