🔎 Why choose Butt-Fusion over Electro-Fusion? 🔍
On most projects it is a mixture of both methods of joining that are used, below are a few reasons that we use Butt-Fusion wherever possible.
🔵 Time - Butt-Fusion is up to 50% faster than Electro-Fusion. On jobs with tight timelines, we can prepare strings prior to the trench being opened, once the trench is excavated and bedded, the pipe can be placed directly in the hole, as opposed to waiting for a welder to carry out welding in the ground.
🔵 Cost - There is a huge cost saving when it comes to Butt-Fusion, as no collars are required.
🔵 Safety - There is less manual handling with Butt-Fusion as the automatic machines do most of the preparation. Mostly the strings are welded above ground as opposed to in the trench, which reduces the chance of trench collapse.
🔵 Quality - Due to most of the preparation being carried out in the machine at surface level, there is less likelihood of contamination of the pipe and the weld.
