With energy prices continuing to rise, both businesses and homeowners are asking the same question: how can we take greater control of our energy costs?

The answer isn't simply about reducing bills today. It's about generating your own power, protecting yourself from future price increases and creating long-term energy certainty.

Whether you're a business looking to reduce operational costs or a homeowner seeking greater energy independence, solar energy is becoming one of the smartest long-term investments available.

In our latest online feature with Business Eye Magazine, Managing Director Neville Bell explores why more organisations and households are turning to renewable energy, the benefits of generating your own electricity, and why now is the time to start planning for a more sustainable future.

A valuable morning for Managing Director, Neville Bell, at the NI Chamber event, Competing to Win, hearing from business and economic leaders on the opportunities and challenges shaping Northern Ireland's future competitiveness.

Thank you to NI Chamber for bringing together such a strong panel, including Andy Haldane, SeánvO’Driscoll, Margaret Hearty and Ashleen Feeney, to explore what the current economic landscape means for businesses operating locally and internationally.

As Solmatix continues to support organisations across the UK and Ireland on their renewable energy and decarbonisation journeys, these conversations are increasingly important. The transition to a low-carbon economy presents significant opportunities for innovation, investment and sustainable growth, and it is encouraging to see these topics firmly on the agenda.

It was also great to see one of the images shared highlighted one of Solmatix's landmark renewable energy projects at Queen's Quay, Belfast, where our team delivered an innovative solar installation from a barge helping generate clean, sustainable energy while supporting long-term carbon reduction goals.

Great to connect with fellow business leaders and hear different perspectives on how Northern Ireland can strengthen its competitive position and continue to attract investment, talent, and opportunity.

If you're exploring how renewable energy can help reduce costs, strengthen sustainability credentials and future-proof your organisation, we'd be delighted to start the conversation. What a fantastic achievement for the Bushvalley team reaching the Doherty Shield Final last night. ⚽👏

While the result didn't quite go their way, losing 3-2 with a heartbreaking late goal, the players should be incredibly proud of their performance, commitment and determination throughout the competition.

At Solmatix, we're delighted to support local schools and young people through grassroots sport, and it was great to see the team wearing their sponsored shirts on such a big occasion.

Congratulations to everyone involved at Bushvalley Primary School on a tremendous run to the final. The future looks bright. 💙💛

Yesterday we talked about how battery storage can change the way you use Solar energy.

Today, we’ve taken a closer look at whether it’s actually worth it.

From storing energy for evening use to reducing reliance on peak-time electricity, battery storage is becoming an increasingly popular next step for homeowners.

We’ve broken it down simply in our latest article 👇
🔹 When battery storage makes sense
🔹 How it works in real terms
🔹 What to consider before installing

If you’re considering Solar or thinking about adding a battery to your system, this is a good place to start.

Battery storage is becoming one of the biggest talking points in the domestic Solar market and for good reason. For many homeowners, installing Solar PV is the first step towards reducing electricity bills and becoming less reliant on the grid. Solar generates energy. Battery storage decides when you use it.

We’re seeing more homeowners, like Trevor Allan, take the next step in their Solar journey - adding battery storage to an existing system.

Why? Because it changes how your energy works for you.

Instead of exporting excess electricity back to the grid during the day, battery storage allows you to:
🔹 Store energy for evening and overnight use
🔹 Reduce reliance on peak-time electricity
🔹 Take greater control of your energy costs

In real terms, that means using more of what you generate and buying less from the grid when prices are highest.

Adding battery storage has taken systems to the next level, moving closer to true energy independence.

Solar is the first step. Battery storage is what unlocks its full potential.

If you’re wondering whether it’s worth it for your home, we’re always happy to have a no-obligation chat 👇

☀️ SUNNY DAYS. LOWER BILLS. ☀️

With the warm weather continuing across Northern Ireland, solar is working harder than ever for homeowners.
Longer daylight hours and stronger sunshine mean higher solar generation, lower electricity bills and even the ability to charge your EV using surplus energy from your roof.

One Solmatix customer, Mark Mason, shared this with us this week: “Glorious day of solar power yesterday. Almost 40kWh generated and around 85 miles of charge added to the EV from surplus solar in one day. Only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner”.

Solar is no longer just about sustainability.
It’s about smarter homes, lower costs, and greater energy independence.

Read more on the blog and discover how solar could transform your energy bills this summer.

Ever wondered what really goes into a Solar installation?

It’s not just panels on a roof! It starts long before that.

This is a glimpse into a pre-start meeting on site, where the team comes together to plan the day ahead, run through safety procedures and make sure everything is set up for a smooth, efficient install.

Every project relies on:
🔹 Clear planning
🔹 Strong communication
🔹 A sharp focus on safety
🔹 A team that takes real pride in what they do

These moments might happen behind the scenes, but they’re what make everything else possible. It’s where the standard is set for the days and weeks ahead.

When a customer comes back nearly 10 years later, that says everything.

We first worked with Mullan Poultry back in 2016, delivering their initial Solar PV system.

Fast forward to 2025, and they returned to Team Solmatix to expand their installation, building on a system that has consistently delivered over time.

That kind of long-term relationship is something we’re incredibly proud of.

As Keith Mullan shared, from identifying the right solution through to installation and delivery on site, the same level of quality and service was there again, nearly a decade on.

It’s a great example of how Solar isn’t a one-off decision. It’s something businesses build on over time as they see the results and benefits firsthand.

A big thank you to the team at Mullan Poultry for their continued trust.
