As we near the end of lockdown people may ask what I did during this period. There is an old saying 'the cobbler's children have no shoes'; in my case, the carpenter's house needed a lot of work. I have been busy on the home front. These are below and after images of decking which I replaced. The original decking was made from timber and in a bad condition. I fitted a composite grey decking on three levels, with the middle section at right angles to the other levels, and I returned the ends of the board to create a contemporary look.

This is an exterior sheeted door and frame I fitted recently at a premises off the Navan Road. This a communal door with many key holders, so I had to use the original lock, and I fitted four hinges for added stability.

This is one of several white shaker doors that I fitted recent in north Dublin. This shaker door combines the contemporary with the traditional with a toris beading in the door matching the existing architrave and skirting. I fitted 3 hinges to the door to increase stability. The handles and the escutcheons are polished chrome and the glass is safety glass frosted with a clear border.

The original doors were pine half-glazed double doors. I replaced them with a single walnut door with two fixed sidelights. The glazing is 4mm safety glass, frosted with a clear border. The doors are fitted with contemporary chrome handles and chrome hinges, and the frame and architrave are pre-finished walnut.
