We'd like to say a Huge Thank you to the Dundalk Credit Union Ltd. for their continued support of the community Pumping Station Fairy Garden.

The Credit Union have generously donated to sponsor this years Afternoon Tea on the Green event, taking place on Saturday 5th September 2-5pm

Without their continued support much of the needed maintenance work as well as our community events couldn't take place.

Fantastic to see this group of children enjoying the sun & fun in the Fairy Garden, on their summer camp this week with Niall Fergus & Mix it up Sports.

We installed 2 new benches this week that were created by CTC Dundalk. A huge thank you to them for their wonderful colourful work & to Paul Carron & his team for cementing them in place.

It's great to see the benches already in use & to get the feedback from our visitors that they are a welcome addition to the garden.

A Huge Thank you to the 1st Louth Scouts at St. Patrick's Scout Group 1st/2nd/5th Louth for the donation of this great Bat Box. Created by the young members as part of their Chief Scout EPIC Award. With various components to this award, & the scouts used wood recycled from pallets to create items to be donated to local community groups, the Pumping Station Fairy Garden & planters to Dundalk Tidy Towns

Donated today to Sheona on their behalf by their 1st Louth leader Déaghlan.

Lá Feile Bealtaine!

Bealtaine, an ancient Irish festival celebrated from May 1st. The word is believed to have originated from Bel Tine meaning the Fire of Bel, or Belenus. Belenus was an ancient God of Fire & Healing. He was the opposite of the goddess at Samhain, bringing brightness, energy & warmth to the months ahead.

The ancient Irish held festivals on & around the 1st May & this tradition still continues in some parts of the country.
Dundalk itself, long held a Maytime Festival, celebrating the energy of the arts & entertainment in the spirit of Bealtaine. Many in Dundalk would love to see this tradition revived.

However, there are several smaller customs which we can all revive, including the Bringing of Flowers to your doorstep, Lighting a Bonfire (which can just be a candle to celebrate Belenus) or Decorating our gardens with colour.
One of the many traditions of Bealtaine is the May Bush. Decorated by the 30th April, placed outside homes or in prominent positions in the community.
