In this short video, Brendan talks through some things to consider when keeping parsnips for seed to ensure better germination and stronger crops in the next growing season.

Keeping your own parsnip seeds is very straightforward to do and can lead to more locally adapted genetics, as the seeds come from plants that have already survived the environment of your garden.

👨‍🌾 GARDENING JOBS FOR SEPTEMBER 🍂

The seasons are shifting! September is the month of harvests, tidying, and preparing your garden for the cooler months ahead. Here are some jobs to keep you busy:

🍎 Harvest & Store – Pick apples, pears, root veg, and late crops. Store carefully for winter use.
🌱 Sowing for Autumn/Winter – Sow spinach, winter lettuce, rocket, oriental greens, and turnips for fresh harvests later.

We're delighted to have been part of the Cornerhouse Project, helping transform a storm-damaged, second-hand polytunnel into a strong, fully refurbished growing space.

What started as a twisted, damaged frame is now a fully restored polytunnel, ready for years of productive growing. Through our polytunnel refurbishment service, we were able to upgrade the tunnel with:

✔ Bespoke hoop connectors
✔ Storm bracing for extra strength
✔ New timber doors
✔ A professionally fitted polytunnel cover
