Walsh & Sheehan Investments Group is delighted to announce the design launch of Páirc Mhuire, a landmark redevelopment of the historic former Our Lady’s Hospital site in Ennis, Co Clare.
The visionary development, which will be one of the largest adaptive re-use projects of its kind in Ireland, will feature more than 160 homes across both existing and new buildings. By repurposing and revitalising the existing structures, the project will deliver significant environmental benefits through reduced construction waste, lower embodied carbon, while preserving the rich architectural and historical character of the site and buildings. The scheme will also include over 20,000 sq ft of commercial space, providing a range of local amenities, including a crèche, dedicated community centre, and extensive landscaping with a sensory playground area. The transformative multi-million-euro project represents a major investment in the future of the area, with an overall development cost estimated at between €35–40 million.
The proposed development will include:
• 🏡 160+ new homes across a range of housing types
• 🏢 Over 20,000 sq ft of commercial space and local amenities
• 👶 A crèche facility and dedicated community building
• 🌳 Extensive landscaping, restoration works, and a sensory playground area
With the design phase now nearing completion, a Large-Scale Residential Development (LRD) application will shortly be submitted to Clare County Council for consideration.
The development represents a significant long-term investment in Ennis and the wider Clare region, supporting housing delivery, job creation, and enhanced opportunities for local businesses and residents alike.
