Annascaul lake to Macha na Bò

Beautiful day for a club hike!

From Annascaul Lake we made our way along this ancient bronze age path to Macha na Bò, taking in views of A Com Dubh, An Ré Mhòr, Beenoskee and Stradbally. Crossing the Step of the Wild Dog Wolf and descending the plain of the cow to have our lunch at the ruins of Mary Macha na Bó’s farmhouse.

Mount Eagle/Sliabh an lolair

Spectacular day out with the club!

Route: We zig zagged our way up to Binn an Choma (424m), and made our way across to Mount Eagle (516m). Epic views out pass Dunmore Head to The Blasket Archipelago. Returned same route.

The mountain summit was the first European bit of land seen by Charles Lindbergh after his 1927 plane voyage across the Atlantic Ocean.
