Last November, as part of Irish Design Week, we partnered with TU Dublin / OT Baile รtha Cliath on โThe Material That Connectsโ - a studentโindustry collaboration exploring ALPI veneer as a surface for contemporary design. The exhibition showcased a series of prototype pieces responding to a live brief around connection, sustainability, and storytelling through material.
Since then, the students have refined their work into fully finished pieces - and recently, Ronan and Marie returned to TU Dublin to announce the three winning projects.
Congrats to:
โจ ๐ก๐ถ๐ฐ๐ต๐ผ๐น๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐บ โ recognised for both the quality of her finished piece and the dedication she showed throughout the project, refining and expanding her work well beyond the exhibition.
โจ ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ถ๐รญ๐ป ๐ ๐ฐ๐ ๐ฎ๐ต๐ผ๐ป โ whose thoughtful reinterpretation of her initial concept evolved into a functional, well-proportioned and carefully resolved umbrella stand.
โจ ๐๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ถ๐น๐ โ who developed a deceptively simple form into a complex, well-executed assembly, producing a beautifully finished final piece.
What impressed us most was the growth, perseverance, and creative problem-solving shown by the students, many of whom were building substantial furniture pieces for the first time.
Weโll be showcasing these winning projects at ๐๐ฒ๐๐ถ๐ด๐ป ๐ฆ๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ฒ ๐๐ฟ๐ฒ๐น๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ (๐ฆ๐๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ญ๐ญ๐ต) on the ๐ฑ๐๐ต & ๐ฒ๐๐ต ๐ผ๐ณ ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฐ๐ต; if youโre attending, make sure you stop by to see the finished pieces and learn more about the collaboration!
