Healy Partners Architects

Healy Partners Architects Healy Partners Architects works to establish a strong collaboration with both clients and design team members.

Healy Partners Architects is based in Limerick City and was established in 1989. Its early years focused on forging a reputation for good design being delivered effectively and economically to smaller projects. This approach has allowed the practice to grow in both the scale of the commissions we undertake and our studio team who work to produce innovative and effective design solutions. The pract

ice has won numerous local and national architecture awards including five Irish Architecture Awards. We have developed considerable expertise in a wide range of building types including residential, offices, office interiors and fit out, retail, education, healthcare, leisure & tourism, religious and commercial projects for diverse range clients, public and private, including the bio-technology, national and local government, accommodation, industrial and technology sectors. In addition to architectural services we also offer Project Management, BER and PSDP (Health & Safety) services. We work to establish a strong collaboration with our clients and design team members. As a result we are successful in creating specific building designs that are connected to context and function. The location of the practice in Limerick, along the western seaboard of Ireland, ensures that our range of projects are of varying scale and complexity. Our projects range in context from building within the control of an established urban environment to the remoteness and exposure of the Burren.

Planning Granted_
Michael Street, Limerick City_

We are pleased to announce that planning permission has been granted for our mixed-use residential development at Michael Street, Limerick City.

The site sits adjacent to Project Opera, the most significant piece of urban regeneration this city has undertaken in a generation, and with that comes a responsibility to contribute meaningfully to the emerging character of Limerick's city centre. Twenty-two apartments, ground-floor commercial space, and a green roof, contained within a seven-storey building on a compact 0.06 hectare plot. The constraints of the site were not obstacles but parameters that shaped the architecture from the outset.

Brick, glass, and local limestone were selected for their honesty, materials that age well, that belong to this place, and that speak to the permanence urban housing deserves. The building neither competes with its context nor disappears into it. It simply tries to be appropriate to its place and time.

Architecture works cumulatively. Each well-considered intervention contributes to the broader project of making cities more liveable, more sustainable, and more humane. That is the ambition that drives this practice.

Our thanks to the project team, Moloney Fox Consulting (M&E), DRA Consulting Engineers (C&S), MKO (Planning & Ecology), and (Archaeology), and to Limerick City and County Council for their constructive engagement throughout.

What do Healy Partners Architects & the 2014 FIFA World Cup have in common?

Have a listen to George Hamilton's coverage of the closing ceremony…

The roof structure at the Estádio do Maracanã, one of the largest and most technically ambitious tensile roofs in the world, was engineered by schlaich bergermann partner sbp, specialists in lightweight and cable-net structures.

The same engineering practice, in collaboration with DRA Consulting Engineers, designed the tensile roof over the Milk Market in Limerick, a project we were proud to lead as architect. The Milk Market roof is a landmark example of a tensile membrane structure in Ireland, spanning the historic courtyard of one of the country's most active public markets.

When George Hamilton clocked the visual similarity during his live commentary of the closing ceremony, he made the connection, and gave us a mention on national television.

Building of the Year – Retail
Building of the Year Awards 2026

Healy Partners Architects has been awarded Building of the Year – Retail for Keanes Jewellers, Limerick, adding to a growing track record of award-winning design.

The redevelopment introduced the first Rolex Certified Pre-Owned boutique in the Republic of Ireland, the first TUDOR showroom outside Dublin and Cork, and a brand new TAG Heuer showroom, all within a space designed to embody true luxury and craftsmanship while honouring the building's heritage.

Designing for brands of this calibre was both a privilege and a challenge we relished. Thank you to the team at Keanes Jewellers for their vision and trust, and to everyone at HPA and the design team who delivered it.

Healy Partners Architects worked with Conack on the delivery of this landmark sports development for Connacht Rugby at Dexcom Stadium.

Acting as Delivery Architects within Conack Construction’s Design & Build team, we supported the successful coordination and delivery of the overall project, including the North Stand, High Performance Centre, and associated site and enabling works.

This complex project was delivered through a highly collaborative team approach, working closely with the wider design team and specialist contractors.
