Over the last year, we had the pleasure of welcoming third level students onto our sites for their work placement, giving them the opportunity to experience the construction industry first-hand.
We caught up with Torie Dunne on our Smith Centre Project in Henley on Thames, to hear about her time with Bennett.

Our next Heritage Week project looks at how older buildings can be successfully adapted for a completely new generation of use.
At the Social Justice Centre in Vauxhall, London, Bennett refurbished an existing four-storey Victorian building and constructed a new four-storey office block alongside it, linking old and new through a glazed atrium.
The retained building underwent extensive refurbishment to accommodate modern building services and improved environmental performance, while new interventions including upgraded windows and a lightwell helped transform the historic fabric into contemporary workspace.
The completed project went on to receive RIBA London’s Building of the Year Award.

Some heritage projects are about careful adaptation. Others are about saving what remains.
Following a devastating fire at Primark’s Bank Buildings in Belfast, Bennett were appointed to help restore one of the city’s most recognisable buildings.
Originally constructed in 1899–1900, the seven-storey Bank Buildings is a Grade B1 listed building in the heart of Belfast city centre. The conservation-led project focused on retaining as much historic fabric as possible while creating a new structure capable of supporting the building for generations to come.
The surviving historic façades were carefully recorded, scanned and supported while the fire-damaged interior was removed. Stonework was individually catalogued so that material taken down could be accurately reinstated in its original position, with new stone and craftsmanship carefully matched to the retained structure.
Behind those historic walls, a new steel-framed building was constructed, combining modern performance and safety standards with traditional conservation materials and techniques.

Continuing our Heritage Week theme, today we return to Farnham Estate in Cavan, where conservation formed an integral part of the development of the Radisson Hotel, Spa & Conference Centre.
The project combined a new 158-bedroom hotel, conference facilities, spa and golf resort with the integration and restoration of listed structures including Farnham House.
A dedicated Bennett conservation team worked alongside conservation architects and interior designers to carry out the restoration of the listed buildings.
The history of the estate continues beneath the building too. Old underground tunnels which once served as kitchens and living quarters for estate staff remain beneath the restored Farnham House, with one beneath the hotel reception becoming the Wine Goose Cellar Bar.
The result demonstrates how heritage buildings can remain at the heart of a development while being given a sustainable new purpose.

We’re marking Heritage Week by looking back at Bennett projects where historic buildings were preserved, restored and adapted for the future.

We begin at an icon of world cricket, The Kia Oval Pavilion in London.
Originally erected in 1892, the listed Pavilion has a unique architectural character and a special place in sporting history. Bennett delivered the extension and refurbishment while the wider grounds of Surrey County Cricket Club remained live and operational.
The works transformed both sides of the historic building while retaining its character. A new entrance was created facing Harleyford Street, while the new façade incorporated Doric columns, ornamental Ashes urns and Prince of Wales feather motifs reflecting the history and identity of the ground.
Internally, the Long Room’s Ali Brown 268 Bar was remodelled and opened onto new entrance stairs and a grand south-facing terrace, creating modern facilities within one of cricket’s most recognisable historic settings.

On 22 July, we were delighted to mark an important milestone at The Bower in Henley-on-Thames, celebrating the topping out of this exciting development alongside our clients, Elysian Residences.
Members of the Bennett team were joined by our client and design team partners on site to recognise the progress made to date and the collective effort that has brought the project to this significant stage.
To mark the occasion, Bennett was presented with a commemorative silver trowel, a fitting reminder of this milestone and the teamwork behind it.
The development will deliver 100 high-quality retirement living apartments, creating a new community designed to support active and independent living in Henley-on-Thames.
A great milestone for everyone involved, and we look forward to continuing the strong progress through the next stages of construction.

Our latest drone shots show the strong progress being made at our residential Development an tSrĂşill, Cromcastle Road, Coolock, which Bennett Construction is delivering for Land Development Agency and Dublin City Council.

With the scaffolding now removed and the façade substantially complete, the development is really beginning to take shape. Works are continuing across the podium, with blue roof installation ongoing alongside further progress to the green roofs.

At ground level, external paving, kerbing and landscaping are also advancing well, while internal works remain on programme.

Once complete, Cromcastle will deliver 146 new homes, including 133 cost-rental and 13 social homes, alongside community, cultural and open spaces.

Everyone at Bennett would like to wish the Mullingar Cricket Club Men’s 1st XI the very best of luck as they take on Lucan in the LHK Insurance Middle Cup Final this Saturday.
