Have you ever wanted to try Woodturning or Improve your Skills? We have a Two Day Course on Friday 12th & Saturday 13th June 2026 9.30am - 4pm in our dedicated classroom above The Carpentry Store.

Instruction is with Seamus Cassidy who’ll safely guide you through all the essential turning techniques required to create several take home projects. Examples include garden dibber, two part candlestick, bowl & if time allows an egg cup.

Interested in the art of woodburning or pyrography? Whether you’re a novice looking for a new hobby or a woodturner, carver or furniture maker looking to enhance your work why not join us for a One Day Pyrography Course with Paula Gormley on Saturday 9th May 2026 from 9.30am – 4.00pm this one day course is an ideal introduction.

This is a hands-on course and using a hot wire machine you will learn about tone, texturing, transferring patterns & adding colour to your work.

You will have use of all our classroom equipment & pyrography machines. Timber, card, transfer paper, colours & all other materials required will also be provided. A light lunch & refreshments are included. Cost of the course is €135.00

Over the day students will hone their skills by working on a tonal chart & a project that you can select with your tutor on the day or you will be welcome to bring your own project idea with you.

We have another One Day Improvers Woodturning Course with Seamus Cassidy on Saturday 28th March between 9.30am – 4.00pm.

This one day improvers woodturning course is ideal for individuals who have done a previous woodturning course and it is suitable for those up to intermediate level.

The project is a 3 piece lamp in Beech and will be a similar design to the photograph. Timber will be provided and a wiring kit will be supplied for you to assemble at home.

The course will cover turning between centres, beads & coves, long hole boring and four jaw self-centring chucks. It is designed to cover many aspects of turning including tool selection, sharpening, equipment, skills and safety. Also provided is an apron & safety wear.
