📍 Survey for Major Pigeon Guano Clean-Up

Today we carried out a survey at a derelict building with a preservation order that has been heavily impacted by a long-term pigeon infestation.

Years of nesting and guano build-up have resulted in significant contamination across multiple floors, including stairwells, timber floors and upper levels of the building.

Pigeon guano is more than just unsightly — it can harbour harmful bacteria, fungal spores and associated insects such as mites, beetles and flies. Situations like this require specialist cleaning procedures, PPE and professional biocide treatment to make the area safe again.

Because the building is protected under a preservation order, all work must be carried out carefully to ensure the structure and original features are respected during the clean-up process.

Proposed works will include:

Call from a customer to say she was hearing noises under her floor and suspected rats had got in. We inspected the drains and found damage that is allowing the rats in to the house.
The rats are coming up the open overflow from the main line and into the property. A trapping program is in place, once all the rats are caught all necessary proofing works will be carried out to prevent further issues.
