Contractors are calling for urgent action as marked gas oil (green diesel) prices peaked in August 2026.

New data from the Association of Farm Contractors Ireland: 1 in 3 contractors have spread 450,000 litres less slurry this year.

Unusual growing conditions disrupted normal silage and slurry patterns, therefore contractors are asking Government for a temporary extension to the slurry spreading period based on actual ground and weather conditions.
