A THATCHED MATCHED TO HEAVEN
AT EDGEWORTHSTOWN/MOSTRIM
This image is one many, both from Ireland and around the world, visualise as the perfect picture of idyllic living.
It was taken from the railway bridge outside Edgeworthstown/Mostrim in the early 1960s.
It has all the elements of the perfect post card with beautiful scenery, fireside smoke gently bellowing from a cottage chimney, farm animals around the yard in a peaceful state, whitewashed walls and the open half door.
If you look closely, you will see recent repairs to the roof using the 'thrusting method'
