The future of the profession is often discussed in conferences, reports and strategy documents.

Sometimes, it is standing in front of you holding a project board.

Representing Vincent Hannon | Architecture + Urbanism at the ATU Careers Service Architectural Technology Exhibition 2026, Stuart Bell
attended an event that showcased the depth of thinking, technical understanding and commitment demonstrated by students across the programme.
A special congratulations to Gioia from our Galway office, who received the 𝗬𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝟰 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 in recognition of her outstanding work.

As part of the exhibition, Vincent Hannon was also proud to sponsor the Year 3 Best Project Award, supporting the next generation of Architectural Technology professionals as they begin shaping the built environment.

The quality of work on display was a reminder that good buildings begin long before construction starts. They begin with curiosity, discipline and a willingness to keep learning.

A big thank you to Eddie and the team for sharing their expertise and insights with us.
Opportunities like these help us stay informed on evolving products, systems and industry best practices, allowing us to continue delivering well-considered solutions for our clients.

Thank you to KYTUN for an engaging and informative session.

📍 At Oakley Meadows, the layout was shaped not only by the housing mix, but by the challenges of the site itself. Changes in topography required careful coordination of levels, access routes and streets to ensure every home remained accessible while maintaining a coherent neighbourhood structure.

🏡 The development introduces 79 new homes, 8 apartments and a creche on Pearse Road, Sligo.

🔗 Equally important was how the scheme connects with its surroundings. Multiple links to neighbouring developments help avoid isolation and allow the new community to become part of a larger urban network from day one.

🌿 Adequate public open space has been integrated throughout the development, creating opportunities for recreation, interaction and everyday use.

🚧 As the first homes approach completion, it is rewarding to see how decisions made on paper begin to influence daily life on the ground.

At Lakeside Memorial Park, the relationship between landscape, structure and movement has been carefully considered to shape a quieter and more reflective journey through the site.

The pedestrian bridge now connecting both sides of the park is an important part of that experience. More than a crossing point, it creates continuity through the landscape and helps frame the transition from arrival into spaces intended for pause, remembrance, connection & reflection 🌉🍃

The project has also presented unique design and coordination challenges, particularly through the use of curved forms and flowing spatial arrangements intended to preserve the calm and natural character of the environment 🌱📐

As construction progresses, it is encouraging to see these moments beginning to take physical form with clarity and restraint 👏🏛️

The project is being led by Oisin Blanchfield as Lead Architect, Cal Henderson, Architectural Technologist, and Santiago Rafael FLORES, Architect, working as part of the wider consultant and delivery team 🤝

The project involved a substantial extension and redevelopment of the existing facility, delivering upgraded retail and food spaces 🍔, drive-thru facilities, EV charging infrastructure ⚡, covered walkways, car wash and valeting facilities, alongside major site and traffic improvements.
One of the key challenges throughout the project was completing the works in multiple phases while keeping the premises fully operational at all times 🔧. The coordination of multiple commercial brands, services and infrastructure required a carefully considered and cohesive design approach.
