Quick myth-buster: making your home more airtight doesn’t mean it can’t be healthy.

A comfortable home isn’t one that relies on random draughts - it’s one with controlled ventilation. That’s so important because everyday life creates moisture (showers, cooking, drying clothes), and without the right ventilation strategy, that moisture can lead to condensation and, in some cases, mould.

What is Demand Control Ventilation (DCV) - and why is it so common in retrofits?

DCV is designed to respond to what’s happening in your home (for example, changes in humidity), rather than ventilating at one fixed rate all day. In simple terms: it helps remove stale, moist air when it’s needed most, and supports healthier indoor air day-to-day.

For many retrofit homes, DCV can be a practical fit because it delivers strong ventilation outcomes without the same level of disruption some other systems can require.
