NEW Walnut Counter Stools ! Very happy to share a bit of the process and the results of a recent commission of walnut counter stools. These are a new iteration of the Bruges Bar stools, designed for counter height and featuring vertical batons on the backrest. They have the same elegant joinery as their barstool relatives and the original Bruges Chair. There’s great satisfaction in seeing the beautiful variations of the walnut grain becoming more defined when oiled. Here I was using Osmo oil. We installed them in the impressive vaulted kitchen of our clients. This atmospheric space was once the forge on the lovely A pleasure to work with interior designer Clodagh Fay on this project.

Recently, I’ve been fortunate to work with beautiful walnut for a special project. There’s real pleasure in joining and oiling this rich characterful wood. After many samples, this finish is a combination of 2 coats of linseed oil and 3 coats of Osmo oil. This is the first version of my Bruges chair design in walnut. Existing versions are in oak, ash, sapele and maple.. These beauts have now been delivered. I can’t wait to see them in situ, in an exciting new location.

With the arrival of sunny days in Ireland it gives me the itch to get back out on the river Nore. It is one of the most relaxing and peaceful ways of connecting with our landscape. These handmade cedars trip canoes with handwoven seats are made on request.

I will be in Made in Kilkenny Pop -Up shop on the corner of The Parade and Rose Inn St, Kilkenny today where my handcrafted paddles are on show and for sale.
Made locally in Bennettsbridge on the River Nore, they make a lovely original, symbolic Irish gift.
For when you paddle together and for when you paddle alone, they are beautiful decorative and functional objects.
Come by and see the Beavertail sapele and the Ottertail ash, I’d be delighted to chat.
