Tethys’ innovative desalination technology is eco-friendly compared to the usual desalination methods.
With concerns about water scarcity, desalination has become a promising water treatment method in high income countries, according to the article, "The state of desalination and brine production: A global outlook." However, traditional desalination techniques produce around 50% more brine than desalinated water. Its disposal negatively impacts the environment due to the elevated salinity of the brine and the chemicals used in water treatment. This causes fluctuations in dissolved oxygen levels when brine is discharged directly into bodies of water, harming marine ecosystems. In addition to environmental challenges, treating brine is also costly and increases energy demand, and consequently greenhouse gas emissions.
In contrast, Tethys’ desalination technology does not harm the environment in this way.
Rising water demands and diminishing water supplies are exacerbating water scarcity in most world regions. Conventional approaches relying on rainfall…
