Our work in Varanasi was mentioned in Mann Ki Baat by PM Narendra Modi—
but what matters more is why.

Some places are not designed.
They are listened to.

Varanasi is one of them—
a city where time, ritual, and everyday life exist in a continuous flow.

To work within such a context is to respond, not impose.

For this project, we were engaged for the master planning and architectural design—
shaping the larger vision while staying rooted in its context.

We’re grateful to .shriv17 for the trust and for bringing us on board as architects.

This moment is not just recognition.
It’s a reminder that when design is rooted in place, it can resonate far beyond its physical form.

Grateful to be part of stories much larger than ourselves.

NOTES
- Hydrated Lime (Bag Lime) : Soak for 24–48 hours before use
- jaggery water to be used to wet the wall surface before applying each coat
- Jaggery water - proportion - 1 kg jaggery in 12 liters water ( Fermentation time: 2–3 days)

Hands in the earth, learning to build with nature🧱🌱

Soil Selection: Choose suitable soil with the right mix of sand, silt, clay, and gravel.
Mix Preparation: Add stabilizers if required (lime/cement) and mix with measured water to get the right moisture content.
Formwork Setup: Install sturdy shutters/formwork to shape the wall and resist compaction pressure.
Layering the Soil: Place soil inside the formwork in thin layers (8–12 cm).
Ramming/Compaction: Compact each layer manually or using a mechanical rammer until it becomes dense and solid.
Repeat: Add the next layer and continue ramming until the full wall height is reached.
Remove Formwork: Once compacted, carefully remove the formwork to reveal the textured rammed earth finish.
Curing: Allow the wall to dry and gain strength over time.
