Set in the quiet greens of Calicut, this 4000 sqft residence unfolds as a gentle dialogue between architecture and nature. Four bedrooms, thoughtfully placed, become personal retreats—while spaces for family and formal living flow effortlessly, holding moments both intimate and grand.

Dining, kitchen, and work areas weave into daily rhythms, opening out to a tranquil pool that mirrors the sky. A gazebo rests softly in the garden, inviting pauses, conversations, and silence.

Crafted with earthy materials and guided by tropical sensibilities, Himadri celebrates light, air, and openness—where every corner is touched by nature, and every space feels alive.

The Earth Colour House by D2 Architecture Studio is designed to reconnect people with the land — through natural forms, earthy materials, and intelligent spatial planning.

Imagine waking up in a space that stays naturally cool, feels naturally calm, and lives naturally light on the planet.

A home that nurtures well-being while respecting the environment.The design inspiration for the residence revolves around the clients lifestyle and still evokes a sense of native Kerala’s vernacular architecture. The clients who had envisioned a house to entertain their friends and family while maintaining the privacy of the household. In an area of 5400 sq-ft, the effort was to create a design that gives ‘function’ as a leading factor in spatial planning rather than a form-based envelope with feasibility for future expansion in mind.

Residence | Calicut

Cradled in the lush embrace of Calicut, the Alli Residence unfolds across 3700 sq.ft. — a sanctuary where earth, water, and sky find harmony in form. Rooted in tropical sensibilities and shaped by vernacular wisdom, this home breathes through its natural materials and gentle contours.

A symphony of sloped roofs dances across the skyline, casting shifting shadows that change with time, while the detached porch and bridged walkway glide above a still waterbody — a quiet prelude to the central courtyard, a soul-space inspired by the timeless naalukettu.

Within, four bedrooms and layered living spaces flow around light and air, embracing silence and togetherness in equal measure. The landscape is not just seen, but felt — a constant presence that soothes and softens.

An industrial staircase rises with quiet drama, adding a whisper of the contemporary amidst the calm.

D2 is humbled and honoured to have journeyed with Mr. Ribeesh and Mrs. Deepa Ribeesh in shaping this poetic dwelling — a vernacular gem that listens to its land and sings its own serene song.
