Hi guys!
This was the first time i ever exhibited my original artworks. Even though it was for 3 hours , it was a beautiful experience. Thankyou to and meenakshi for organizing this and special thankyouuu to each and every person who showed up.

Had been feeling a little discouraged lately but all the encouraging words i heard just got me back up on my feet. Arigato.

Alsoooo .nandini .eleven11 are amazing people i got to meet and interact here.

......

About the Madras inktober , all three hosts me , and are having huge changes in our lives right now.

moved to US and moved to Germany just recently and me, i have started working as a full time architect. So coping up with our new lives and making art has been a challenging task so it was a conscious decision by us to not set any deadline or rules about when to finish or that we won't take submission after that day or anything.

We wanted each participant to do it at thier own and so will we because is not a challenge!!!

Life is challenging enough lets not add to it. So yeahh look forward to our entries and we will look forward to yours 💕

Day 5: Devlopment
( read caption )
What you see above is the before and after "development" pictures of the Mint clock tower!
The mint clock tower aka mint manikoondu is the one of the oldest clock tower in madras, second to doveton clock tower. Built under the South India Watch Company, it is an iconic art deco structure located on the mint street ( thanga salai ) known to be city's longest street.

Even though I was delighted to see the clock tower get repairs , little did I expect it to be painted in such distasteful colour palette with cyan, while, blue and pink.

The importance of following a guideline for renovation and repair of heritage structure needs to be stressed upon yet again, because for something to be so far from it's orginal state that it's almost painful to look at is just sad.

It's never just paint, the outer colour of the building is also a element that forms the identity of the structure and here the pallete followed before was according to the art deco norms.
WHAT IS YOUR OPINION ON THIS "DEVELOPMENT"?
Let me know in the comments!
You can read more about it in the article written by in

Day 4 : Community

The Ennore Fishing Community
The power of community!
( Caption in quote via ) "THE FISHERS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE...

Konamudukku Kalvai... an ecologically significant zone of the Ennore Creek where TANGEDCO has illegally dumped dredged sea sand towards the construction of a conveyor corridor.

This would destroy the life support system of Kosasthalai river.

It would also be devastating for the many fishers depending on this river for their livelihood.

Ennore fishing community finally decided to stage a protest at the site as there has been no heed paid to their petitions.

The Tahsildar has finally taken notice and promised the fishers that the work would immediately be stopped and a meeting at the Collectorate with the fishers and TANGEDCO authorities will be organised.

Meanwhile, the fishers' remain resolute that they will not rest till the dumped sand is removed from the river. "
Unfortunately there was very little coverage of this issue and still no permanent solution has been provided yet. And this beautiful community needs our voice to strengthen them!

Day 3-
Business
There's no business like the ones at the beach especially the crowd favorite "Titanic". Still remember quick lunches there during college days and the greatest task was to save our food from the crows xD .

One of the things i missed the most during the lonnng quarantine and the beach being shut down!

What's your favourite Titanic memory ?

Day 2
Aarambam
A quick sketch of milk boiling ceremony ( p**l kachal ). A ceremony that symbolises a start of a new life in a new place, especially in Tamil Culture as a integral part of house warming!
The ceremony starts with boiling the milk and allowing it to overflow. It
is performed before moving into a new house. The overflowing is supposed to bring in overflowing of prosperity and joy! And after the milk boils everyone who attends the ceremony gets to enjoy a cup of warm milk!
I still vividly remember when we moved into seperate own house when i was in 7th and we had this ceremony in our bright yellow painted kitchen!

A BEGINNING OF A NEW JOURNEY !

Day 1: House hold Heritage!
This teak wood dresser is something that has been handed down for almost 3 generations . It was gifted to my grandmother from her mother and then now eventually has been passed down to me. This mirror is the first thing i look at when i wake up and a cool fact about it is that the mirror tilts in different angles 🔥.
It was lovely seeing so many household heritage items on day 1 and seeing their stories was such a good warm up that we all needed before we get into the game withAARAMBAM!
Waiting for all the wonderful entries and don't forget to mention the hosts ._
And and also mention 💚
And remember is not about perfection so just have fun!
