Indian streets are inherently mixed-use, where residential life and commerce coexist in varying proportions. Designing commercial architecture within such neighbourhoods therefore requires a typological response that balances public engagement with the intimacy of the residential street.

Ikigai explores this condition through a quiet architectural presence. Its expression is defined by structure and carefully composed openings, revealing little from the exterior. Clad in stained precast concrete panels, the building projects warmth and restraint, engaging the neighbourhood through familiarity rather than spectacle.

We believe that this project reflects our shared commitment to gentle and environmentally responsive living.

Join us on 13 June for a guided visit of the house, its design and construction process, and the use of mud as a primary building material. Models will also be on display.
