In December 1967, as Coromandel Fertilisers Limited commissioned its first plant at Visakhapatnam, two of India's most consequential leaders took a moment to write. President Dr Zakir Husain saw in it proof that Indian and American enterprise could collaborate meaningfully in the service of the nation. Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi saw it as a direct link between domestic fertiliser production and India's freedom from dependence on imported grain.

What began as a single plant, inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister Shri Morarji Desai, has grown into one of India's largest agri-solutions companies. Today, Coromandel International serves millions of farmers across the country, with a presence spanning crop nutrition, crop protection, organic fertilisers, and retail agri-services.
