Main activities of ASSA is as follows :
1) Operating Liner service between East coast India / Far East Asia.
2) Operating Granite yards at Inland destinations and at the Port destinations.
3) Operating Container Freight Station and Open and Bonded Warehouses.
4) Handling equipments like Orange Peel grabs, Clam Shell grabs, Specialised Material Handling Systems like Forklifts, Equipments for every kind of machine / cargoes, etc.
1) Operating Liner Service between East Coast India / Far East Asia:
M/s ASSA and its successors have been Agents for M/s Genshipping Pacific Line (GPL) since 1954. GPL operate 7 vessels between the East Coast of India and Far East Asian Ports on Liner terms. GPL ships are the only ships operating liner service for break-bulk cargoes at any Indian Port. It is the 7 ships with regular sailing schedules that offer cost effective and time bound service to the Exim Trade. GPL also charter additional tonnage as and when the same are required. During the last 12 months, we had 65 (export) ships with total export tonnage was about 8,95,928.42 M.T and we had 17 (import) ships with total import tonnage was about 134940.743 M.T calling at Ports in India.
2) Operating granite yards at Inland destinations and at the Port destinations:
As the main cargo that is carried by our ships is rough granite blocks out of India with a view to bring in efficiency whereby the shipper delivers the rough granite blocks to us at a rail head close to the mining area and all other operations are undertaken by us and the B/L is issued to the shipper as soon as the rough granite blocks are loaded on to the planned vessel. We operate such depots at Surareddy Palem and Karimnagar.
3) Operating Container Freight Station and Open and Covered Bonded warehouses :
With a view to cater to the growing container growth, it was decided to establish a modern container freight station. The application to set up the same was made to the Government of India on 9.6.1994 the application was approved and Letter of Intent issued by Government of India on 23.2.1995 the Container Freight station was notified on 14.9.1995. Currently the container freight station is spread over an area of 1,49,383 sq.mtrs with a covered area of 18,692 sq.mtrs. With a view to serve the Exim Trade better and to cater to the specific needs of its customers, Open and Bonded area of 8,376 sq.mtrs was notified along with 18,700 sq.mtrs covered bonded area. This help the importers to reduce their cost towards container detention charges, demurrages and also allow them to flexibility of paying duty as and when the cargo was needed. The CFS handles largest volumes of containers amongs all other CFSs located at Chennai. This is the only CFS equipped with :

6 Tractors and trailers for 20’ and 40’ containers
TCM Toplifters 45 tons
MITSUBISHI Forklift 45 tons
3 TCM Straddle Carriers of 25 MT each
KALMAR Reachstacker of 15 MT capable of 7 high stacking
ESCORTS and TUSKER Mobile Cranes of 10 MT each

Round the Clock Operations
In order to give customized service for specialized machines like excavators and steel coils, we have created an exclusive area called excavator handling facility which is fully cemented. In order to ensure the excavators are handled properly we are arranging direct transportation from ships hook point to this facility.
For specialized handling of steel coils, we have constructed special warehouse of 68,000 sq.ft with an height of 35’. All steel coils are stored in this warehouse on rubber mats separated by wooden planks.
The handling is done using high capacity belt slings so as to ensure there is no damages and dents / scratches are strictly avoided.
Advantages at our CFS
a) Due to direct delivery from Port, there are no damages to the equipment.
b) Cargo is kept on cemented area and clean environment.
c) Cargo is handled using specialized equipments and all operations are done by specialized labour.
d) Delivery is effected round the clock and your tractors need not enter the city (i.e) they can load from our CFS and can proceed to all mofussil destinations.
