The strongest design ideas are often shaped long before the first drawing begins.

Conversations with fellow designers, vendors and collaborators at PULSE 2026 reinforced that a school is never the work of one mind. The materials we choose, the way a space is built and the way it is finally used all carry the thinking of many people. Listening closely to those perspectives is what makes a learning environment feel right for the children who will use it every day.

We return to the studio with this bag of thoughts, back to the drawing board.

A school is read with the eyes long before it is understood by the feet.

Transparency lets a space announce itself in advance, so even a first walk through feels familiar. Visual connection does the rest, a glance across a courtyard, a play area seen from a staff room, and the building starts to feel like one connected whole.

At VGA, sightlines are an early design decision, shaping trust and ease across a school.

What goes into designing auditoriums, especially for universities?

University auditoriums are built for multi-use academic functions and the kind of heavy student traffic few other spaces see.

At Amity University Noida, we designed wooden ceilings and framing to do double duty, adding warmth to the room while shaping its acoustics. Soft seating and considered lighting complete the brief, letting the space move effortlessly between lectures, convocations, and performances.
