The need of the hour is we take immediate action to retrofit the public buildings such as hospitals, schools, offices as well as private buildings which were not built as per design against seismic forces.
Still it is seen that even in private small and medium residential buildings, people just engage cheap labor contractor to carry out their work. The designs most of the times are just copied from other buildings by the Architects hired by them.

The scientific warnings that a high-intensity earthquake is likely to strike the Himalayas in the ‘near future’ have found backing in a new study that highlights how the “enormous stacking up of strain” in the region could lead to at least one earthquake of magnitude 8.5 or higher.
