Third spaces are becoming an important part of the future of retail because they give people a reason to engage with a brand beyond shopping.

For P•TAL, dedicating an entire floor to a kitchen and dining space gave their existing community a place to come together for workshops, conversations, cooking and shared experiences, turning the store into a space people can keep coming back to.

The facade of the P-TAL flagship store in Hyderabad was our opportunity to tell the brand’s story before anyone stepped inside.

Rather than treating it as a storefront, we designed it as an introduction to the people behind P-TAL. The architecture steps back, allowing a handcrafted installation celebrating the Thathera community and the process of making brass utensils to take centre stage. Before visitors discover the products, they first discover the craft that makes them possible.

It was great to see the space come alive with such an incredible turnout on opening night. As retail continues to evolve, the most successful stores are no longer just places to shop.
