The current Central Government is in the process of transferring ownership of various public sector industries, including the Railways, to private companies. In response to this, the Eastern Railwaymen's Union has voiced its strong opposition and dissent.

To address these concerns and oppose privatization, a meeting has been scheduled at the Howrah Gulmohar Railway Institute on the 30th of October 2023, commencing at 2 PM. We earnestly request all of you to attend this important gathering and lend your valuable support to the protest against privatization. Your presence at the meeting will help demonstrate our collective stance against this significant change in the industrial landscape.

The 126th Central Council Meeting of ERMU was held at the Bhagalpur Community Hall, spanning from September 29th to October 1st, 2023. The inauguration of this significant gathering was graced by the distinguished AIRF General Secretary, Comrade Shiva Gopal Mishra, who ceremoniously presided over the event. ERMU President Comrade Amit Kumar Barman raised the Union Flag with profound pride and reverence.

In the presence of numerous esteemed delegates, the meeting commenced with an enlightening opening speech delivered by Comrade Amit Kumar Ghosh, the General Secretary of ERMU. The event witnessed an impressive turnout, featuring the central leadership, branch secretaries, and central council members of ERMU.

Throughout this comprehensive three-day meeting, participants diligently charted the course for future struggles and movement programs, setting the stage for the challenges and endeavors that lie ahead.

The key demands that arose during this Central Council Meeting are as follows:

STOP PRIVATISATION IN RAILWAYS.

FILL UP ALL VACANCIES IN ALL DEPARTMENTS INCLUDING SAFETY CATEGORIES.

SCRAP NPS, RESTORE OPS.

REVOKE NEW LABOUR CODE.

STOP MAN POWER CURTAILMENT IN THE NAME OF NEW YARDSTICK.

IMMEDIATELY WITHDRAW THE CLOSURE NOTICE OF PRINTING
PRESSES.

DRESS CHANGING ROOM ALONG WITH TOILET TO BE ENSURED TO LADY EMPLOYEES.

EQUAL WAGES FOR EQUAL WORK TO ALL UN-ORGANIZED WORKERS.

The 126th Central Council Meeting of ERMU took place at bhagalpur Community Hall, spanning from the 29th of September 2023 to the 1st of October 2023. In accordance with the decision made by JFROPS(Joint Forum for Restoration of Old Pension Scheme)NJCA on August 21, 2023, the Eastern Railwaymen's Union (ERMU) has announced its intention to organize a protest program throughout the Eastern Railway , aimed at raising their concerns regarding the National Pension System (NPS). The decision to hold this protest program reflects the growing sentiment among railway workers towards the NPS, and signifies the ERMU's determination to address this matter collectively. The program is expected to serve as a platform for railway employees to
voice their grievances and advocate for their pension rights.

Over 2 lakh people of Central and State Government Employees gathered on August 10, 2023, at the Ram Leela Maidan to demand the Restoration of the Old Pension Scheme. The protest was organized under the banner of the Joint Forum for Restoration of Old Pension Scheme (JFROPS) / National Joint Council of Action (NJCA). Speaking at a press conference, Shiva Gopal Mishra, the Convener of NJCA and General Secretary of All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF), stated that employees who joined government service after January 1, 2004, have been strongly opposing the New Pension System (NPS).
Now, the employees are tired of the government's "anti-employee policies".
When the leaders are entitled to the Old Pension Scheme, then those employees who dedicate their entire lives to an organisation and the country should not be deprived of support during old age.
This is their right and the government should immediately restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).

On 2nd August 2023 at 3pm an anti-NPS meeting, led by the joint forum for restoration of Old Pension Scheme, was held at Fairley Place. Comrade Shiva Gopal Mishra (GS, AIRF), S.B. Yadav (SECRETARY GENERAL, Confederation of Central Government Employees and Workers), Com. S.N. Pathak (President, AIDEF), and Com. C. SRIKUMAR (General Secretary, AIDEF), were present as keynote speakers in this meeting.
Many comrades from ERMU, including branch, women, and youth leaders, as well as central leadership, spontaneously participated in this meeting.
