At our studio, it was an intentional call to work with traditional materials with a modern twist for this wonderful restaurant ‘Theta Theta Telugu’.

Spread across 4,050 square feet with a seating capacity of 90, the restaurant unfolds within a generous 14-foot clear height, allowing the spatial language to breathe and the material palette to assert its quiet authority. At its core, the project celebrates a triad of locally sourced, time honoured materials like Kadapa stone, laterite, and Rajasthan green marble which are subtly elevated with accents of brass. While these materials are deeply embedded in the architectural vocabulary of the region, their application here departs from convention, creating a tactile and visual richness that feels both rooted and refreshingly contemporary.
The walls, entirely clad in laterite, establish a robust and earthy backdrop. This textured mass is softened by a continuous high wooden skirting that wraps the laterite walls, doubling as a ledge for seating and integrates linear lighting. The gentle wash of light across the laterite surface accentuates its porosity and depth, producing a warm, ambient glow that shifts through the day.
Brass, in its most delicate expression, appears as a continuous vine-like motif running along the walls. Suspended on a slender rod, these leaf forms traverse the wall with an organic fluidity, evoking the effortless growth of a creeper, very subtle yet evocative.
