Interlocking mudbricks or ICSEB are designed to lock into each other ICSEB without the use of mortar. They are an enhanced brick that achieves self-locking using a shear-key and lock mechanism. The shape of shear-key varies based on the design, and a complimentary lock is provided on the opposite side of the brick. Load transfer is achieved by shear transfer and gravity. ICSEB therefore serve to enhance the quality of construction while minimizing time and cost.

Furthermore, ICSEB are earthquake resistant, provide cooler interiors, and do not need plastering.
