This view transitions from the wide aerial to a focused, ground-level perspective. You can now clearly see the "textured concrete" and "weathered steel" (Corten) retaining walls as they step down the terraced hillside from image Multiple tiers are used to retain the complex, contoured earth, illustrating how the engineering design interacts with the difficult topography. Building foundations, including one detailed concrete slab with rebar connections, are prominently featured, demonstrating precise cuts and fills. I've also preserved a section of the colored utility network as a practical example of the plan's subterranean components.

Step-by-Step: Build a Civil Engineering Plan in SketchUp Pro
1. Start a New Project
Open SketchUp Pro
Select Architectural Template – Meters
Save the file with your project name
2. Import CAD / Survey Drawing
Go to File → Import
Import:
AutoCAD DWG/DXF
Site survey
Contour map
Set correct scale and units
3. Create Terrain from Contours
Use Sandbox Tools:
From Contours
Smoove
Stamp
This converts contour lines into a 3D land surface.
4. Draw Roads and Site Layout
Tools used:
Line Tool
Arc Tool
Offset Tool
Push/Pull Tool
Create:
Roads
Parking
Footpaths
Drainage paths
5. Add Buildings and Structures
Model:
Residential buildings
Retaining walls
Columns
Steel structures
Use:
Groups
Components
Layers/Tags
6. Apply Dimensions and Text
Use:
Dimension Tool
Text Labels
Section Cuts
Add:
Site dimensions
Road width
Plot numbers
Levels and elevations
7. Create Sections and Elevation
Use Section Plane Tool to generate:
Front elevation
Cross section
Longitudinal section
8. Apply Materials and Rendering
Add:

Post-Tensioned Bridge Void
The final idea highlights a specific and complex design solution. This dramatic, low-angle 3D photo looks up into the void beneath a massive, curving post-tensioned concrete box girder bridge. We see the dramatic engineering required to achieve long spans: the raw concrete, the complex arrangement of steel tendons, and hydraulic jacks. Far above, the finished roadway carries traffic.

Urban Heavy Infrastructure
This image focuses on large-scale public works. It captures the complex geometry of a massive urban infrastructure project—a curved flyover and a tunnel entrance being constructed simultaneously. We see the interaction of heavy machinery: a slipform paver is laying final concrete, while an excavator digs nearby. The scene emphasizes the shear scale and coordination of a major civil engineering endeavor.
