Our Tricolour flying high at 64 meters, proudly welcoming the nation to HPCL Rajasthan Refinery, Pachpadra, Balotra.
A proud moment for Opame Architects as our concept design for the Indian National Flag mast stands as part of this landmark national asset, inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji on 4th July 2026.
Designed with pride. Built for the nation. Jai Hind. 🇮🇳
The design concept for this plaza is inspired by the spirit of the Indian National Flag, the lotus, and the traditional stepwell architecture of Rajasthan. The plaza is imagined as a ceremonial public space that celebrates national identity, unity, peace, and cultural memory. At the center, the tall national flag becomes the main focal point, rising above the landscape as a symbol of pride, dignity, and collective belonging.
The circular form of the plaza is derived from the Ashoka Chakra, where the idea of 24 spokes is translated into 24 design elements / sticks / radial lines around the flag. These 24 elements represent movement, progress, discipline, and the continuous journey of the nation. Around this central axis, the plaza opens like a lotus, with layered petals forming the landscape geometry. The lotus has been used as a symbol of purity, harmony, and resilience; here, its petals come together to represent the unity of people from different regions, cultures, and communities. The united petals create a peaceful gathering space where visitors can walk, pause, and experience a sense of togetherness.
The stepped levels of the plaza take inspiration from the stepwells of Rajasthan, where architecture was not only functional but also social, spiritual, and climatic. The gradual steps, platforms, and layered seating create shaded pauses, movement, and gathering zones, connecting the design to Rajasthan’s heritage. The combination of flag, lotus, radial geometry, and stepped landscape transforms the plaza into more than a monument. It becomes a place of remembrance, civic pride, public interaction, and national unity.
