Don’t react first. Find out why it happened.
If work has already been executed differently from the approved drawing, don’t immediately jump to rework. First, understand what happened:
1. Was the latest drawing being used?
Make sure the site team wasn’t working from an outdated revision.
2. Was the change approved?
If not, document what was executed and why.
3. What is the impact?
Check whether it affects the design, structure, services, cost, quality, or timeline.
4. Can it be corrected?
If correction is required, decide on the action before the next stage of work begins.
The key: Don’t let “we already did it” become “now we have to live with it.”
Proper site coordination, updated drawings, and documented approvals can prevent these situations from turning into costly rework.
