Building pathways from traditional knowledge to better markets
On 19 March 2026, an awareness programme on organic certification was held across the Kaziranga Karbi Anglong Landscape, bringing together 52 marginal farmers from the Difflolu and Kohora river basins.
Many of these farmers already practice chemical free farming. What they often lack is access to certification systems that can help them secure better prices, reach wider markets, and strengthen their livelihoods.
Through this initiative, participants explored how organic certification can improve income, support soil health, and promote sustainable farming practices. The programme also highlighted how these practices contribute to cleaner ecosystems and safer habitats for wildlife across the landscape.
As shared by a participant, understanding certification is a step towards building trust, improving value, and creating long term opportunities for farming communities.
This is not just about certification. It is about connecting people, land, and livelihoods in a way that sustains both communities and biodiversity.
